People volunteer for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they have a personal tie to a cause. Others may see it as a way to make connections, build a resume and advance their career. And it’s also true that volunteering is empowering and is good for the mind and the soul.
If you would like learn more about volunteering and how you can help change lives, including your own, the American Red Cross is conducting a Virtual Recruitment Fair on Monday, August 10, at 5:30 p.m. (CDT).
“The American Red Cross has volunteer opportunities for everyone,” says Ashley Trattner, recruitment specialist for the American Red Cross of Kansas and Oklahoma. “There are many ways you can help us in our live-saving mission.
“Whether you are interested in serving in-person or online, we have positions that will work for you,” she said.
Trattner says the Virtual Recruitment Fair is specifically geared toward recruiting Blood Donor Ambassadors, Disaster Shelter Workers and Disaster Health Services workers. The need is especially great with the opening of the annual hurricane season. However, it is important to remember that the Red Cross responds to disasters – national in scope, as well as those involving single families – 62,000 times a year, an average of one every eight minutes.
